Industrial and campus security in Electronic City, Phase 1 and Phase 2

Electronic City is one of Bengaluru's main industrial and IT hubs: manufacturing units, warehouses and IT campuses across Phase 1 and Phase 2, with large residential complexes along Hosur Road and Neeladri Road housing the workforce.

Factory and campus sites here bring problems that homes and shops do not: long compound walls, truck and staff gates with separate rules, hundreds of workers changing shifts at once, and production areas where dust, heat and vibration shorten the life of ordinary equipment.

Many of these premises also fall under the Karnataka Public Safety (Measures) Enforcement Act, which expects entry and exit CCTV and 30 days of footage. We design with that in mind and keep security systems on their own network, apart from plant and office IT.

What an industrial survey here covers

  • Compound length and lighting, to decide fixed versus PTZ coverage and pole positions
  • Truck, staff and visitor movements at each gate
  • Shift sizes and changeover times, to size attendance terminals and turnstiles
  • Dust, heat and vibration at camera and reader positions
  • Network separation between cameras, plant systems and office IT, and fibre between buildings
  • Karnataka Public Safety Act applicability and 30-day storage

Electronic City: questions we get asked

Can ANPR log trucks as well as cars at our factory gate?

Yes. Trucks and commercial vehicles can be logged with plate, photo and time. Camera height and angle are set for the larger vehicles at the survey.

Fingerprint or face attendance for a shop floor?

Face recognition usually works better where hands are dusty, oily or gloved, and it is quicker at shift change.

Does our factory need to keep 30 days of CCTV footage?

If your premises meets the thresholds in the Karnataka Public Safety (Measures) Enforcement Act, reports indicate 30 days of storage is expected. See our CCTV law guide and confirm with your jurisdictional police station.

Can cameras share the plant network?

We recommend keeping security on its own network or a separate segment, so recording is not affected by plant traffic and cameras are not exposed to it.
